General description
The Fire Brigade corps has 18 central departments, about 100 main Control Rooms and 350 sub Control
Rooms where the equipments have to be updated. The Market Validation phase has highlighting the
needs to deploy MAP not only to Central Room but also even to his patrol fleet, using special PDA and
other devices tailored for firemen.
Involved departments
The sites involved in the first run of the deployment phase are the fire brigades corps in:
- City of Padua
- City of Siena
During the overall project duration other 8 sites will be added according to the organisation and the territorial
needs. This will be reported in the “Service Level Agreement Report in every deployment site v1”
delivered by month 6 when the first milestone will be completed.
The Control Room and patrol fleet
During the daily operation firemen need to be supported both in Control Room and on field. In these two
scenarios the operator’s needs are:
- The Control Room scenario requires a correct use of information coming by the internal archives
not accessible on internet and sharing the operation’s experience to allow improving
the time and correct response during the emergency calling. In this case, the operator has to
follow the required procedure recommended by the internal document procedure. Consider
that each command have his procedure tailored on the local territory and the local resource
available, the archive are strictly local and managed by the department informatics
unit.
- The on-field scenario requires a time saving and precise response considering that probably
the fireman is using a PDA not a fixed workstation, and the support of the Central Room. In
this case the role of a Service Manager became essential.
The list of most important information to be collected is the following:
- Fire fighting procedure.
- Special substances fighting.
- Guideline of special equipment using.
- National and local regulation of safety protection (law 626).
- Guideline for bacteriological chemical and nuclear defence.
- Special procedure for the treatment and safety of historical art work.
MAP users
The following table summarizes the number of users and the involved control rooms after the first project
milestone:

The distribution of the control rooms over the sites will be defined in a master plan that will be agreed with
the responsible of each city department. As per the increase of 8 sites during the first milestone duration
the master plan will be contained in the “Service Level Agreement Report in every deployment site v1”. |
